Taylor released by Jaguars: The Jacksonville Jaguars released veteran RB Fred Taylor on Monday. Taylor, the club’s first round pick in 1998, started 136 of 140 games in 11 seasons with the Jaguars and led the team in rushing eight times. His 2008 season came to end three games early after he tore ligaments in his thumb.

Fantasy Analysis
Taylor might retire, but his comments to the Florida Times Union on Monday seem to indicate there is still some yardage and touchdowns left in those legs. "Now I have the opportunity to go into free agency for the first time in my career, ever," said Taylor, who offered to take a pay cut to stay with the Jags. "I’m excited about it.” Wherever Taylor ends up, he isn't likely to be a No. 1 running back, so his Fantasy value remains relatively low. If his situation is reasonably favorable (i.e. he's a backup and not a third-string guy), then Taylor might be worth drafting late on in deeper leagues heading into the 2009 season, but don't expect him to lead your team to a championship my any means. If Jacksonville don't make a move in free agency or the draft, second-year back Chauncey Washington could step into Taylor's backup role with the Jaguars.
