LB Rey Maualuga has been charged with misdemeanor assault stemming from an incident Sunday morning when he allegedly punched the manager of a Cincinnati bar. It carries with it a maximum jail term of 180 days. Maualuga entered the league substance abuse program after a DUI in January 2010. Bengals RapidReports
Feb. 10, 2012 9:47 a.m. - by Paul Dehner Jr. - Report: LB Maualuga punched bar manager
LB Rey Maualuga was involved in a fight and punched the manager of a downtown Cincinnati bar this weekend, according to a report from FOX-19 TV. The manager claims he was struck in the eye with a punch from Maualuga. Cincinnati police were investigating and no charges have been filed. Maualuga was previously arrested for DUI in January 2010.  Feb. 09, 2012 6:36 p.m. - by Paul Dehner Jr. - Bengals top priorities among own FAs: No. 1 -- S Nelson
A change of scenery changed the game for Reggie Nelson. He thrived under defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer after being traded away from Jacksonville and made four interceptions last year. He'll demand a hefty contract, but the Bengals like him and have plenty of cap space. Bengals RapidReports
Feb. 09, 2012 6:33 p.m. - by Paul Dehner Jr. - Bengals top priorities among own FAs: No. 2 -- DE Rucker
Frostee Rucker is coming off a career year, setting personal best in tackles (60) and sacks (4). He did all that playing an average of just 28 snaps per game. The defensive line depth drove the team's top 10 defense. Re-signing the 28-year-old Rucker will help keep that intact. Bengals RapidReports
 Feb. 09, 2012 6:31 p.m. - by Paul Dehner Jr. - Bengals top priorities among own FAs: No. 3 -- K Nugent
Mike Nugent rebounded from his ACL injury to hit 33 of 38 field goals, including 14 of 16 from beyond 40 yards. He's proven trustworthy and clutch -- hitting two game-winners. The Bengals couldn't ask for anything more in a kicker. They need to lock him up. Bengals RapidReports
Feb. 09, 2012 6:22 p.m. - by Paul Dehner Jr. - Bengals top priorities among own FAs: No. 4 -- DE Fanene
In a league where passing and rushing the passer determine wins and losses, defensive ends who contributed six sacks in limited snaps are worth paying. Jonathan Fanene did just that last year -- and he should still be affordable. Bengals RapidReports
Feb. 09, 2012 6:04 p.m. - by Paul Dehner Jr. - Bengals top priorities among own FAs: No. 5 -- DT Sims
It's not a coincidence that when DT Pat Sims went out for the year with an ankle injury in Week 12 the Bengals rush defense began to dissipate. He's a 330-pound physical run-stuffer and, at 26 years old, he's entering his prime. Bengals RapidReports
Feb. 08, 2012 12:30 p.m. - by Paul Dehner Jr. - Bengals top free agency targets by position: No. 3 -- RB
RB Cedric Benson's time in Cincinnati appears to have run out. The team needs a top running back to play alongside the explosive, deep passing game with WR A.J. Green. The Bengals using the draft here would be the smart bet, but one snug fit exists in free agency: Oakland's Michael Bush. Bengals RapidReports
Feb. 08, 2012 12:27 p.m. - by Paul Dehner Jr. - Bengals top free agency targets by position: No. 2 -- OG
Nate Livings was a major disappointment. Bobbie Williams likely won't be brought back at 35 years old. Drafting a guard in the first round and signing another in free agency would be the most likely scenario. Realistic options: Stanford G David DeCastro, Georgia G Cordy Glenn; Baltimore OG Ben Grubbs, among numerous others. Bengals RapidReports
Feb. 08, 2012 12:26 p.m. - by Paul Dehner Jr. - Bengals top free agency targets by position: No. 1 -- WR
The search for the No. 2 receiver continues. With WR Jerome Simpson indicted on drug trafficking charges and no quality secondary option to A.J. Green on the roster, Cincinnati must find an upgrade at this position. The best bet will be in free agency with a deep crop of available players. Realistic options: Pierre Garcon, Mario Manningham, Robert Meachem. Bengals RapidReports

The 34-yard touchdown reception in the second quarter of the Pro Bowl by WR A.J. Green was the first TD by a Bengals player in the Pro Bowl since WR T.J. Houshmanzadeh in 2008. Bengals RapidReports

He was a good person whose company I enjoyed over all his years as a player and after that. I feel a great loss at his passing." Bengals RapidReports
Jan. 26, 2012 6:08 p.m. - by Paul Dehner Jr. - Tampa hire all but assures return of DC Zimmer
Defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer interviewed for the head coach position in Miami and Tampa Bay. With both jobs now filled following the Buccaneers agreeing to terms with Greg Schiano, all signs point toward Zimmer returning for the final year of his contract with the Bengals. His defense has finished in the top seven two of the last three years. Bengals RapidReports

Jan. 26, 2012 2:01 p.m. - by Paul Dehner Jr. - Dalton absorbing positives of Pro Bowl
Outside of the beautiful weather, QB Andy Dalton is soaking in the positives of being among four Bengals 24 years old or younger at the Pro Bowl. "For the four of us just to be around these guys that have been to a lot of Pro Bowls, it’s great,” Dalton told Bengals.com. “It gives us exposure; it gives us something to build off for the future.” Bengals RapidReports
Jan. 26, 2012 1:57 p.m. - by Paul Dehner Jr. - Bengals bring youth to Pro Bowl
Marvin Lewis and the Bengals know there is reason to be excited for the future with their young core. Their Pro Bowl participants reiterate that fact. QB Andy Dalton, 24, is the oldest of the four Bengals in Hawaii. DT Geno Atkins, TE Jermaine Gresham and WR A.J. Green are all 23 years old. Bengals RapidReports
Jan. 26, 2012 1:28 p.m. - by Paul Dehner Jr. - Possible Bengals target out of Senior Bowl
Many early mock drafts have the Bengals targeting Nebraska CB Alfonzo Dennard. Unfortunately, the Bengals won't be able to see him play in Saturday's Senior Bowl since he suffered a hip pointer. His bowl coach, Vikings' Leslie Frazier, was impressed. "For the time that he was here, he did a good job," he said. "He showed that he could run and had good athleticism." Bengals RapidReports
Jan. 25, 2012 5:20 p.m. - by Paul Dehner Jr. - Report: Opening on Bengals staff
Marvin Lewis said there's an opening on his staff right now, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer, and he wasn't referring to defensive backs coach Kevin Coyle, who interviewed for the Dolphins defensive coordinator position. Bengals RapidReports

The players were added to sub for New Englad Patriots players who were scheduled for the game but cannot play because their team is headed for the Super Bowl. Bengals RapidReports

President Mike Brown on moving training camp from Georgetown College to Paul Brown Stadium: "I will personally miss going away to camp very much. Georgetown is a special place for the Bengals and will remain so. The people we have worked with over the years have been unfailingly helpful and knowledgeable. They have become our dear friends and will remain so.” Bengals RapidReports
Jan. 20, 2012 1:45 p.m. - by Paul Dehner Jr. - Fans will have access to Paul Brown practices
While the Bengals won't be at Georgetown College for training camp, they said fans will be allowed access not normally given during the season, as training camp practices take place at Paul Brown Stadium. The team said road trips to other sites are also being taken into consideration. Bengals RapidReports

Marvin Lewis on training camp moving from Georgetown College to Paul Brown Stadium: "Georgetown has been a great place for us, but this is the best way for our team to get ready for the 2012 regular season.  Jan. 20, 2012 1:27 p.m. - by Paul Dehner Jr. - Bengals move training camp to Paul Brown Stadium
The Bengals are moving their training camp to Paul Brown Stadium after holding it at Georgetown College in Georgetown, Ky., the past 15 years. The lack of two-a-day practices and diminished attendance last year at the facility one hour south of Cincinnati made moving it to the team's home a more feasible model. Bengals RapidReports
