Feb. 09, 2012 5:09 p.m. - by John Keim - Redskins offseason priorities: No. 3 -- Key signings That means re-signing ILB London Fletcher and, most likely, placing the franchise tag on TE Fred Davis. Fletcher captains the defense and remains an effective player. Davis, though one strike from a year-long suspension, is a dangerous TE. Redskins RapidReports
Feb. 09, 2012 4:57 p.m. - by John Keim - Redskins offseason priorities: No. 4 -- Landry's health SS LaRon Landry isn't going to undergo surgery and is instead receiving alternative treatments on his Achilles. Surgery likely would end his 2012 season. Without Landry, the Redskins don't have a quality starter at SS, so this becomes a need if he leaves. The best guess is that he'll remain with a smaller one-year deal, giving him a chance to prove he’s healthy. Redskins RapidReports
Feb. 09, 2012 4:30 p.m. - by John Keim - Redskins offseason priorities: No. 5 -- Find an RT Jammal Brown has spent two years fighting injuries that have limited his mobility and effectiveness. The Redskins could use a young RT with mobility to play in their stretch zone. Brown has had moments of solid play, but the constant hip/groin issues are a concern. Redskins RapidReports
Feb. 09, 2012 4:27 p.m. - by John Keim - Redskins offseason priorities: No. 6 -- Add a CB The Redskins should be set with their top two: DeAngelo Hall and Josh Wilson. But they do need a good No. 3, someone who can develop into a solid starter. That’s why LSU’s Morris Claiborne is a possibility at No. 6. What they really need is someone who can cover in the slot. Feb. 09, 2012 4:07 p.m. - by John Keim - Redskins offseason priorities: No. 10 -- Find a summer home The Redskins still aren’t sure where they’ll train this summer. Every year but one since 2000 they’ve trained at their facility. But the usual suspects – George Mason, William & Mary, Frostburg State, Dickinson College -- look like a no-go for now. So they may have no choice but to stay home again, despite Mike Shanahan’s wishes. Redskins RapidReports
Feb. 01, 2012 8:23 p.m. - by John Keim - 2012 Redskins UFAs: Stay or go -- Fletcher The Redskins need to do what they can to keep ILB London Fletcher. Yes, he’ll turn 37 in May, but he’s still playing at a high enough level to be earn alternate status for the Pro Bowl. He’s a coach on the field whose intensity inspires teammates. Verdict: Stay. Redskins RapidReports
Feb. 01, 2012 8:22 p.m. - by John Keim - 2012 Redskins UFAs: Stay or go -- McIntosh It’s hard to imagine any scenario under which ILB Rocky McIntosh returns. He lost his starting job this year to Perry Riley and was inactive for the last game after missing curfew. McIntosh started strong this past season only to start slipping. He’s a liability in coverage and best suited for a 4-3 WLB. Verdict: Go. Redskins RapidReports
Feb. 01, 2012 8:14 p.m. - by John Keim - 2012 Redskins UFAs: Stay or go -- Montgomery C Will Montgomery was OK in his first full season as a starter for Washington at the center position. He was adept at calling out defenses, but was just an average blocker. The Redskins should try to upgrade at this position, but they also feel if nothing else he’s on par with the other centers in the NFC East. So it’s not a priority. Verdict: Stay. Redskins RapidReports
Feb. 01, 2012 8:11 p.m. - by John Keim - 2012 Redskins UFAs: Stay or go -- Locklear Backup OT Sean Locklear was not pleased at having to rotate with rookie OT Willie Smith late in the year and did not endear himself to the coaching staff. He wasn’t good when he played, either. Locklear will be, and should be, elsewhere next season. Verdict: Go.

Feb. 01, 2012 8:02 p.m. - by John Keim - 2012 Redskins UFAs: Stay or go -- Hightower The coaching staff likes rookie RBs Evan Royster and Roy Helu , but they love what veteran RB Tim Hightower brings. Coming off an ACL tear, Hightower will be cheap to re-sign. He’s not a great back, but can help in each area and be productive. Look for him to return. Verdict: Stay. Redskins RapidReports
Feb. 01, 2012 8:01 p.m. - by John Keim - 2012 Redskins UFAs: Stay or go -- Stallworth Veteran WR Donte Stallworth was better late in the season but managed just 17 catches in the final seven games. He showed he could help only as a fifth WR. The Redskins will bring in another WR in the offseason, making it tough to see Stallworth return. Verdict: Go. Redskins RapidReports
Feb. 01, 2012 7:59 p.m. - by John Keim - 2012 Redskins UFAs: Stay or go -- Grossman The Redskins will spend the offseason trying to upgrade this position. Considering Rex Grossman started 13 games a year ago, that’s a big indictment. There’s a chance he’ll return -- maybe 50-50 -- but if the Redskins are serious about upgrading then he won’t. Verdict: Go. Redskins RapidReports
Feb. 01, 2012 7:58 p.m. - by John Keim - 2012 Redskins UFAs: Stay or go -- Carriker DE Adam Garriker played better in his second season in a 3-4 and recorded a career-best 5.5 sacks. He understands what he needs to do in this system. The Redskins would like him back and his return would provide terrific depth, which is why they should keep him. They’ll also have a healthy DE Jarvis Jenkins. If Carriker wants to start, he may have to go elsewhere. Verdict: Stay. Redskins RapidReports
Feb. 01, 2012 7:57 p.m. - by John Keim - 2012 Redskins UFAs: Stay or go -- Golston DE Kedric Golston has been a solid reserve for Washington since joining the team as a sixth-round pick in 2006. But he’s coming off an ACL tear and if the team re-signs Adam Carriker, he’d be a fourth end at best. He’s a key special teamer, but No. 4 DE’s aren’t always active. He might have to leave if he wants to play from scrimmage. Verdict: Go. Redskins RapidReports
Feb. 01, 2012 7:55 p.m. - by John Keim - 2012 Redskins UFAs: Stay or go -- Fox It’s always good to have a veteran backup who knows the defense like ILB Keyaron Fox. The Redskins would be wise to draft another ILB. If they keep London Fletcher, they still need to groom someone, but there’s no harm in bringing back Fox. Verdict: Stay. Redskins RapidReports
Feb. 01, 2012 7:54 p.m. - by John Keim - 2012 Redskins UFAs: Stay or go -- Anderson The Redskins picked up slot WR David Anderson midway through the season, but he was inactive for the final three games. Though he knows the offense, it’s difficult to see any place for him in 2012, if they want to be better at this position. Verdict: Go Redskins RapidReports
Feb. 01, 2012 7:54 p.m. - by John Keim - 2012 Redskins free agents: Stay or go -- Buchanon CB Phillip Buchanon was suspended for the first four games, then missed the final 11 because of knee and neck issues. The Redskins need a third corner who can cover inside, but it’s tough to see Buchanon returning, even though he played well for them in 2010 (covering on the outside). Verdict: Go Redskins RapidReports
Jan. 27, 2012 2:50 p.m. - by John Keim - 'Skins interested in Peyton Manning, but only if healthy Offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan all but confirmed the Redskins will be be in the hunt for QB Peyton Manning -- if he's free and healthy. "If he can recover," Shanahan told ESPN 980, "and the doctors say he's healthy, and he says he's healthy, then that's enough for me." Redskins RapidReports
Jan. 27, 2012 2:44 p.m. - by John Keim - Haslett praises injury-riddled SS LaRon Landry Defensive coordinator Jim Haslett told reporters at the Senior Bowl that SS LaRon Landry, who has missed a combined 15 games the past two years because of an Achilles injury,"was a hell of a football player the first 8 games of [2010]. He just hasn't come around." Landry is a pending free agent. Redskins RapidReports
