ESPN reported Tuesday morning that the preliminary diagnosis on New Orleans Saints running back Deuce McAllister's injured left knee is a torn ACL that could end his season.
McAllister injured his knee during a 1-yard reception midway through the second quarter of the Saints' 31-14 loss to the Tennessee Titans and didn't return to the game.
According to the New Orleans Times-Picayune, McAllister said when asked about the severity of his injury: "It's not good. I'll talk about it (Tuesday)."
The Saints said McAllister will undergo an MRI exam Tuesday.
In 2005, McAllister tore the ACL in his right knee and missed the final 11 games of the season. He rushed for 1,057 yards and 10 touchdowns last season.
"It's twice in two years, man," Saints fullback Mike Karney said. "When he came to the sidelines and I asked him how it was, he just gave me that dull look. It's tough to lose '26.' He's the best. On and off the field."
Right tackle Jonathan Stinchcomb said: "We took a huge hit today, no doubt about it. He's a major piece of our offense."
Losing McAllister would probably mean an increased role for Reggie Bush, who had 88 receptions last season and rushed for 565 yards and eight touchdowns on 155 carries.
