News briefs: Reid's son taken into custody after failed test

BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- The oldest son of Philadelphia Eagles coach Andy Reid was taken into custody again Tuesday after failing a drug test, prosecutors said.

Garrett Reid was handcuffed and taken to the Montgomery County Prison on Tuesday after surrendering at a probation office. He declined to comment as he entered the office.

The 24-year-old didn't show up for a scheduled test Oct. 15, according to prosecutors and his attorney, Ross Weiss. He is required to submit to random tests while awaiting sentencing on drug charges.

Reid has acknowledged he had used heroin when he ran a red light and hit another car in January. He and his younger brother Britt are to be sentenced Thursday in separate cases.

The 22-year-old Britt Reid, is already in jail in an unrelated case after violating his bail conditions.

He was charged in August with driving under the influence and drug violations. Police said they pulled over Britt Reid for suspicion of drunken driving and found painkillers, amphetamines and antidepressants when they searched him and his vehicle.

At the time, he was awaiting sentencing for a road-rage incident that happened the same day as his older brother's crash in January.

CB Rogers on IR; 'Skins sign Eubanks

ASHBURN, Va. -- The Washington Redskins placed cornerback Carlos Rogers on injured reserve and promoted cornerback John Eubanks from the practice squad.

Rogers tore two ligaments in his right knee in the first quarter of Sunday's loss to the New England Patriots. He will have reconstructive surgery later this month.

Eubanks was an undrafted rookie free agent from Southern Mississippi last year and spent nearly the entire season on the practice squad. He was signed to the active roster for the final regular-season game and made his NFL debut that week against the Giants.

Eubanks remained with the Redskins during the offseason and was again signed to the practice squad after this year's training camp. The Redskins also signed linebacker Tyson Smith to the practice squad.

Packers lose RB Wynn, activate WR Robinson

GREEN BAY, Wis. -- DeShawn Wynn's season is over, while Koren Robinson's could begin Sunday at Kansas City.

With their roster exemption from the NFL for Robinson expiring, the Green Bay Packers added the reinstated wide receiver, making room for him on the 53-man roster by placing Wynn, their leading rusher, on season-ending injured reserve. Coach Mike McCarthy said Wynn has "a significant shoulder injury."

"It's part of the game," said Wynn, who started four games and rushed 50 times for 203 yards and four touchdowns. "You can't really control injuries."

Falcons' sellout streak in jeopardy

ATLANTA -- The loss of Michael Vick is starting to affect the Atlanta Falcons at the ticket booth. The team announced that some 3,000 tickets are still available for its Week 9 game Sunday against the San Francisco 49ers, endangering a streak of 56 consecutive sellouts at the 70,000-seat Georgia Dome.

Atlanta (1-6) has struggled on the field since losing its franchise player. Vick was suspended indefinitely by the NFL and faces a prison term after pleading guilty to federal dogfighting charges.

If the Falcons don't sell the remaining tickets by 1 p.m. Thursday, the game would be blacked out locally under NFL rules. They have sold out every home game since Arthur Blank bought the team in 2002.

Titans sign Cain to replace long snapper

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- The Tennessee Titans replaced long snapper Ken Amato by signing fullback and long snapper Jeremy Cain to the roster.

The Titans lost Amato to a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee late in Sunday's 13-9 victory over Oakland. They already had Cain on the practice squad, signing him last week.

The 6-foot-1, 240-pound Cain was in training camp with Philadelphia. He spent two seasons with the Chicago Bears, playing in eight games as a linebacker with eight tackles. He played in NFL Europa in 2006, where he had 38 tackles for the Amsterdam Admirals.
