KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Damon Huard was shaken up by a hit from Denver's Elvis Dumervil in the third quarter Sunday and replaced by Brodie Croyle.

Croyle, a second-year pro, was expected to be the starter this year but failed to beat out Huard, an 11-year veteran. Dumervil smashed into Huard, knocking the ball loose, and linebacker Nate Webster picked it up and ran it in from 17 yards for a touchdown and a 19-8 Denver lead.

Huard was on the sideline with an ice pack on his neck after that play.
