Bucs send Bears undisclosed draft pick for QB Griese

TAMPA, Fla. -- Quarterback Brian Griese is coming back to Tampa Bay.

The Buccaneers traded an undisclosed 2009 draft pick to the Chicago Bears on Monday for Griese, who played for Tampa Bay in 2004 and 2005.

Griese passed for 3,768 yards, 27 touchdowns and 19 interceptions for Tampa. His 97.5 quarterback rating in 2004 is the best single-season mark in Bucs' history.

Griese played for Chicago the past two seasons, passing for 2,023 yards, 11 touchdowns and 14 interceptions as a backup.

Griese was traded after the Bears re-signed Rex Grossman and gave a contract extension to Kyle Orton.

Jeff Garcia started last season in Tampa Bay and made the Pro Bowl.

Griese made the Pro Bowl after the 2000 season as a member of the Denver Broncos, who drafted him in 1998 out of Michigan. He also has played for the Miami Dolphins.
