MIAMI -- Safety and special-teams standout Keith Davis signed a two-year contract Tuesday with the Miami Dolphins after spending the past five seasons with the Dallas Cowboys.
Davis will play for new Miami coach Tony Sparano, a former Cowboys assistant. He'll also be reunited with Todd Bowles, the Dolphins' new assistant head coach and secondary coach, who was with the Cowboys the past three years.
Davis, the Cowboys' special teams captain last year, has 77 career tackles on special teams and also has 22 starts at safety.
The Dolphins went 1-15 last year, and improving depth in the secondary was one of their many offseason needs. Davis said he wants to help Miami rebuild by providing leadership "in the secondary, on special teams and in the locker room."
Davis was an undrafted free agent in 2002 out of Sam Houston State.
