Atlanta has talked to them, presumably to move up for Dorsey. Baltimore has talked to them, too, presumably to get ahead of Atlanta for quarterback Matt Ryan. New Orleans has made an offer, with the Saints interested in acquiring Dorsey as well. And let's not forget the New York Jets. The feeling is they want to leap-frog Oakland to get running back Darren McFadden.

But what happens if, say, St. Louis does nothing and stays at the second position? Stay tuned. The building is divided on Dorsey and Long.

Atlanta: The Falcons would love nothing better than for St. Louis to pass on Dorsey, but they're taking no chances. They've talked to the Rams about moving up, with Dorsey the intended target.

Now, if the Rams screw up their plans and take the defensive tackle, look for the Falcons to try to trade down -- with the Jets a likely partner. Or is that New England? The Falcons would be wise to play tennis with the two until they get an offer they can't refuse.

If Dorsey is gone, the Falcons will target Ryan, and they can get him anywhere above the eighth pick, where Baltimore is sitting.

That leaves Oakland (4), Kansas City (5), the Jets (6) and New England (7) as possible trading partners, but don't look for the Raiders or Chiefs to go forward. They're not interested. The Jets and Patriots could be.

Kansas City: Here's Kansas City's problem: Its most urgent need is offensive linemen, but the fifth spot is too high to take the Ryan Clady, the second best tackle on the board. So the Chiefs take defensive end Vernon Gholston to replace Jared Allen, right?

Not so fast.

There is a division within Chiefs' headquarters on the Ohio State pass rusher, and if you were to ask me now if they're taking the guy, I'd say no. They're more likely to take an offensive lineman because they're afraid that with their second first-round pick, the 17th overall, there won't be an elite tackle.

Their fear is the graveyard that's ahead of them, with Denver, Carolina, Chicago and Detroit all looking for help on the offensive line.

The Broncos might take a running back. The Panthers could take pass rusher Derrick Harvey. Chicago looks like a lock for a tackle, or guard Branden Albert, provided he's there. And Detroit? Lions' fans better hope Michigan State wide receiver Devin Thomas is off the board.

Anyway, Kansas City can't count on someone like Pittsburgh's Jeff Otah or Vanderbilt's Chris Williams sneaking through, which means they might have to reach at the fifth spot -- much as Arizona did a year ago in the same position for tackle Levi Brown.

For the moment, the Chiefs will sit still and see what's going on with St. Louis and Atlanta. But if Chris Long is gone, and Dorsey is off the board, look for the Chiefs to start looking south.
