Pacman cleared to work out with Cowboys

Adam "Pacman" Jones is back in the NFL again.

Sort of. NFL commissioner Roger Goodell notified Jones on Monday that, effective immediately, he can participate in organized team activities with the Dallas Cowboys, including training camp and preseason games.

In a letter sent to Jones, Goodell wrote that a final determination on his reinstatement for the 2008 season will be made by Sept. 1. Translation: If Jones doesn't mess up, he'll be playing in Dallas.

"This limited reinstatement is a step in the process," Cowboys owner Jerry Jones to the Associated Press. "Adam is aware of the things that need to be done in order to take the next step."

Jones, who was suspended all of last season, would be a welcomed addition to a Dallas secondary that needs coverage help. Jones, according to the Titans staff, gave up six completions in man coverage in 2005.

That's dominating. Jones will join Anthony Henry, Terence Newman and 2007 first-round pick Mike Jenkins at corner. Henry and Newman battled injuries last year, but this has the making of special coverage unit. Goodell told Jones that his continued participation in the NFL depends on demonstrating that he can conduct himself in a lawful and reliable manner.
