Cowboys: Five things to know

Cowboys: Camp report | Freeman

OXNARD, Calif. -- Observations from Dallas Cowboys training camp:

1. Adam Jones and Terrell Owens have developed a nice friendship since Jones arrived. At the beginning of a recent practice Jones and the defensive backs wrapped bands around their ankles and began to warm up. Owens noticed and yelled to the group, "You guys need to put those bands around your faces." Everyone laughed and Jones responded to Owens: "You need to put one around your nose." I'm not even sure what that meant but it was funny.

2. Speaking of Adam Jones, the Cowboys don't seem too worried about his lack of recent playing time in games. Because of his suspension it has been awhile since Jones played in an actual game. "The good thing is he's getting lots of repetition at camp," said Jerry Jones. "I can see what he can do."

3. Most NFL teams despise being a Super Bowl pick by some in the media as the Cowboys are. Well, Dallas isn't just another team and Jerry Jones isn't just another owner. He welcomes the Super Bowl talk.

4. When Tank Johnson was warming up with a group of fellow defensive lineman he -- very loudly -- started talking about his former teammate Rex Grossman. You couldn't help but overhear it. Let's just say the Tank Man wasn't being very complimentary of his old QB. While Johnson was fairly quiet in the locker room last year, it appears he's opening up again.

5. The Cowboys had better hope Tony Romo doesn't get hurt. Backup Brad Johnson's arm strength now resembles that of Chad Pennington.
