WR Greg Camarillo working as starter; two added to practice squad

Presented by Epson

Sep. 3--DAVIE -- It appears Greg Camarillo has gone from hero of the 2007 season to possible starter for the 2008 season opener against the Jets.

Camarillo worked with the first-team offense during Wednesday's practice, replacing Derek Hagan, who dropped two passes in the Dolphins' final exhibition game against New Orleans.

Last season Camarillo caught eight passes for 160 yards and two touchdowns, the first of which was a 62-yard reception against Baltimore that provided the Dolphins its lone win of the season in overtime.

During the exhibition season, Camarillo caught six passes for 58 yards while Hagan caught four passes for 40 yards as a starter. Hagan, who contributed 29 receptions for 373 yards and two touchdowns last season, practiced with the second unit on Wednesday.

Along with Camarillo's possible promotion the Dolphins also added two training camp participants to the practice squad.

Former AFL receiver Anthony Armstrong, who initially made the 53-man roster but was waived a day later, participated in Wednesday's session. Armstrong's addition to the practice squad will likely be announced later today.

Also in attendance was outside linebacker Rob Ninkovich, who initially made the 53-man roster but got waived a day later to make room for Dolphins waiver wire claims.

Ninkovich, who contributed eight tackles and two sacks during the exhibition season, is eligible for the practice squad because he hasn't been active in nine NFL games during his two seasons.

Armstrong and Ninkovich complete the Dolphins eight-man practice squad.
