MIAMI -- The play clock was winding down, the thoughts inside Brett Favre's head were swirling like debris blowing in the stadium, and the unfamiliarity of it all was something he hadn't felt on a football field in a long, long time.
What to do? What to call? Did he really come out of retirement for this pressure?
"Same play," Favre told his New York Jets offensive teammates in the huddle Sunday. "Same play."

After 16 seasons with the Green Bay Packers, and only being with the Jets for a month, it's understandable Favre isn't quite comfortable just yet, even at the advanced NFL age of 38. This is a new system, a new uniform with new teammates. That's why getting an early-season road victory is so important for this Jets team, even if Favre doesn't know the entire playbook.
"He's done that a lot," Jets receiver Jerricho Cotchery said. "He'll come back into the huddle and just say, 'Same thing.'"
For that reason, Favre gets a little bit of a pass for his slightly above-average game against the Dolphins. Favre finished 15 of 22 for 194 yards and two touchdowns, good enough for a passer rating of 125.9.
His overall grade: B-. There was some good and some bad. At times, his passes seemed to float, even the completed ones. He looked slow and old in the pocket, getting sacked three times. The mobility and feel weren't there.
At other times, he slid away from pressure and made some sharp passes. He even scrambled for an early first down.
"It was ugly at times," Favre said.
Good thing for the Jets that the Dolphins' offense was even more putrid. At one point, Dolphins quarterback Chad Pennington, the former Jets passer who lost his job when Favre came over, was hit in the mouth and had to go to the sideline to spit out blood.
You should have seen what we were spitting up watching the Miami offense. They couldn't run the ball at all and Pennington took an abusive beating.
But this game wasn't about him. It was about Favre wearing a New York Jets uniform.
