The first coach to get fired once the season ends is _____? |
![]() Pete Prisco | I don't think so. The Giants need to get on a little bit of a roll. They seemed to get it together in the second half against the Panthers, so I think they'll play hard for a while. And they probably should. | It has to be the Chargers. The way Philip Rivers is playing, the Chargers will be dangerous. They also have LaDainian Tomlinson. He hasn't had a good season, but he is still LT. | I can. Cowboys win. I think Tony Romo has a big day to put aside his December demons. He will make plays in the passing game against that Jim Johnson blitz. Cowboys win by scoring with some big pass plays. | Rod Marinelli. There's no way they can justify keeping him. The Lions are a mess. Marinelli went into a bad situation, with a team with little talent, but that happens sometimes. I think Marinelli might get another chance later in his career, but he's done here. |
![]() Clark Judge | No. That is not Tom Coughlin's style. His teams don't roll over for anyone. Now, will he rest some of his starters? He should. But he's not revealing his hand. if Minnesota is going to win this game it will have to earn it. | San Diego. The Chargers got hot late last year and made it to the conference championship game. They started even later this season and may not make it. If they do, they have the ammunition to make life difficult for Indy. And Denver? It's floundering with no running backs. If it makes it, it disappears after the first playoff game. | No, though Dallas makes it difficult to have a modicum of faith in it. The Cowboys lost last week at home. They haven't won a season finale since 1999. And Tony Romo is terrible down the stretch. Read those tea leaves, and tell me what you think. | It will be a photo finish between Rod Marinelli and Romeo Crennel, but I like Crennel's chances more. He meets with Randy Lerner after Sunday, and tell me how anyone makes a case for his staying. You can't. Especially with the offense disappearing. In this case, it will be hard to beat Crennel. |
![]() Dave Richard | No chance. Remember how the Giants played in their regular-season finale last year? They almost beat the Patriots - and did five weeks later. Momentum is everything and the Giants are proof. The Vikings will get a handful. | Easily the Chargers because they have a semblance of defense. Yeah, you could pass on them like passing on 11 five-year-olds, but they have improved at stopping the run and can rush the quarterback. | This one's easy: Dallas will win. Aside from the last two snaps they took off, the Cowboys defense has played very well of late, and they know how to corral Donovan McNabb. Cowboys will roll on the road and into the playoffs. | I don't see how Rod Marinelli can even board the plane back to Detroit after Week 17, and that's even if they beat Green Bay. |
![]() Eric Kay | This team is all talk. Yeah, they want to have momentum. Yeah, they don't want to propel a team into the playoffs with the same last-game hurrah the '07 Giants got. Yeah, Tom Coughlin doesn't sit players. But this is football, and the big IF haunts every coach. What IF Eli gets hurt? What IF Chris Snee gets hurt. What IF Derrick Ward gets hurt. Expect to see TC hit the mass subs button early on. | Neither team runs the ball particularly well. Neither team defends the pass particularly well. Neither team has a coach who can win big games this decade. Hmmm. I'll say the Broncos, if only because they're more accustomed to bad weather. | Yes. The Cowboys will win. The Eagles are a lot of good things, but power running team isn't one of them. The Cowboys are a lot of good things, but run stuffing isn't one of them. The Cowboys are quick to the ball on defense, which means the spread-'em-out run/throw Eagles offense will be in trouble. This game won't be dominated by either team, but the Cowboys should eke out a 31-27 win. | Jim Zorn! We kid, we kid. The first coach fired will be Romeo Crennel. I would say Rod Marinelli, but I have a feeling Browns management will be quicker to the trigger on this one. After all, it took how long to fire Matt Millen? |
