Dec. 1--OAKLAND -- Kansas City Chiefs tight end Tony Gonzalez has put together a Hall of Fame career in 12 seasons.
So it would make sense for Raiders second-year tight end Zach Miller to seek out Gonzalez for some advice.
"He's like, 'Damn, your quarterback's got to stop hanging you out to dry,' " Miller said of his chat with Gonzalez. " 'You need to let him know.' "
Gonzalez didn't disappoint in his latest trip to the East Bay, where he was a football and basketball star at Cal.
Miller wasn't half bad, either.
The Raiders and Chiefs relied on their tight ends often in Kansas City's 20-13 win at the Oakland Coliseum.
The difference was Gonzalez was able to receive passes that were on target more times than not from Tyler Thigpen, while Miller had to deal with passes that were hard to handle from second-year quarterback JaMarcus Russell.
Gonzalez led all receivers with eight catches for 110 yards. Miller had five catches for 79 yards.
Gonzalez took much joy in helping the Chiefs earn their second win of the season, especially against the Raiders.
"That's one thing I have been telling the guys all week," Gonzalez said. "It's Raider weekend. Let's go out there and get a victory in our division. We do well out there, and I'll take it."
The Raiders tried using their best cornerback, Nnamdi Asomugha, to cover Gonzalez along with safeties Gibril Wilson and Rashad Baker at times.
But Gonzalez came up with big catches, including two for first downs on the Chiefs' only touchdown drive.
