LeBron as NFL material? Just crazy talk, Shockey says

CLEVELAND -- LeBron James, NFL player. Just a fantasy, says New Orleans Saints tight end Jeremy Shockey.

The Cavaliers' All-Star forward caused a stir this week by saying he could be "really good" if he committed himself to playing football. The remarks set off debate about James' football talents and prompted Browns coach Eric Mangini to joke that James should "come on down" and help his 1-8 team.

Cleveland nose tackle Shaun Rogers initially sacked James' belief. Now Shockey has piled on.

On his Twitter page, Shockey wrote: "Everyone trust me Lebron James could not play in the NFL! espn is crazy to even think he could even make a practice squad. hes a 4.9 40 time."

James was an All-State wide receiver in high school.

Let's consider the source of this article.  Jeremy Shockey who is possibly the most over-rated TE of all-time (barely ahead of the young Winslow).  Shockey has about 2 great plays in his life that made the highlight reals but he has NEVER lived up to expectations or his own bragging standards.  Shockey is a run of ...(more)

C'mon, Shockey, Gates didn't even play college ball and there are other guys in the league that have driven beer trucks (I might be stretching the truth here) and stocked shelves in grocery stores and stuff.  Didn't the Saints get a guy on the team because someone saw him in a store and said, "Hey, you're big...why don't you play f ...(more)

LeBron just keeps coming up with new ways to deflect any talk of his pending free agency: He's talked about retiring MJ's #23 across the league, "posterizing" Top 10 (of all-time) dunks (that weren't all that great...see Wade's dunk in their last matchup), and now, it's playing for the Browns.  Guys that are as big as LeBron, ...(more)

His 40 times is actually 4.4 which is enought to kept up with most players in the NFL.  If Lebron wanted to catch Chris Johnson or stop Adrain Peterson, that is another story.
