Banged-up Stafford, Johnson to start for Lions on Thanksgiving

DETROIT -- Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford was in the starting lineup Thursday against Green Bay, less than a week after separating his non-throwing shoulder.

The rookie passer and star receiver Calvin Johnson (knee) each missed three days of practice after suffering injuries in Sunday's dramatic win over Cleveland.

Lions linebacker Ernie Sims was out with a hamstring injury, defensive end Dewayne White with a hurt toe and safety Ko Simpson with a knee injury. All three are starters.

The Packers, who lost linebacker Aaron Kampman and cornerback Al Harris to knee injuries last Sunday, started center Scott Wells, who missed two practices with a sore knee.

Matthew Stafford is really winning the hearts of ...(more)

We now have the beginnings of the fornula of a team that might actually want to get on the field and win a few games no ...(more)

Who knows if Stafford turns out to be a stud.  But the kid has balls and players around him respond to that.  In time, with performance, you have yourself a team leader and the most important building block a team could have.  Once you have that QB, the rest is downhill.

Thank God, now it will be a good game and I think we will take this one as long as those two are in the game.  You take them out and we cant even compete.  I love turkey day football, GO Lions!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
