The Packers also announced on Saturday that linebacker Jeremy Thompson was released from the hospital. He had been hospitalized after spraining his neck near the end of Friday's practice.
Thompson didn't lose consciousness or suffer any paralysis, and coach Mike McCarthy expects him to make a full recovery. He won't play Monday.
Clifton has had limited work since being injured in a victory over Detroit on Nov. 26.
With rookie backup T.J. Lang questionable because of a concussion he sustained in practice Thursday, Allen Barbre would likely step in if neither Clifton nor Lang is available.
