Bills hire Whaley to be assistant GM; Steelers add Hunt

  •

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. -- The Buffalo Bills hired Doug Whaley on Wednesday to be the team's assistant general manager and director of pro personnel.

Whaley will oversee the pro personnel department and assist general manager Buddy Nix in all football-related administrative duties, along with college talent evaluation.

He joins the Bills after spending 11 years with the Pittsburgh Steelers, the last 10 as the team's pro scouting coordinator.

The Steelers hired Brandon Hunt to replace Whaley. Hunt joined the Steelers in 2005 and spent two seasons as an intern in their player personnel department. He became a pro scout for the Houston Texans in 2007.

Hunt was a four-year starting offensive lineman at Division II Indiana (Pa.) University from 2000-03, and was named to the all-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference team at guard.
