MVP: Peyton Manning, Colts. He won it last season, and this Colts team is even better. What's to think Manning is going to regress? It's his award to lose.
Coach of the Year: Mike Smith, Falcons. The players love him, but he also can be a stern disciplinarian. The Falcons will be much improved and could push for the Super Bowl. I think they win the division, which could earn Smith this award just by doing that.

Defensive Player of the Year: DeMarcus Ware, OLB, Cowboys. He will get 17 sacks -- at least -- this season. The guy is a force off the edge. He's the premier speed rusher from the 3-4 defense. Now that he has help on the other side, he will be even better.
Offensive Rookie of the Year: C.J. Spiller, RB, Bills. He's the next Chris Johnson. Like Johnson, he has explosive speed. That's the way of the modern NFL back.
Defensive Rookie of the Year: Brandon Graham, DE, Eagles. This kid plays with a relentless style. Having Trent Cole on the other side will help. They can't double them all. He will have double-digit sacks as a rookie to win this award.
Comeback Player of the Year: Jason Campbell, QB, Raiders. He will flourish now that he's out of Washington. The Raiders will rejuvenate his career, just like they did for Jim Plunkett.
Step-back Player: Brett Favre, QB, Vikings. I just can't see him coming close to doing what he did in 2009. What he did was a shock to those of us who doubted him. I play the age percentages here.
Team on the rise: Raiders. I like the talent on that roster and I think Campbell will really help the offense. Watch for Darren McFadden this season.
Team on the decline: Cardinals. I just don't like the quarterback situation. Derek Anderson doesn't do much for me.
Best free-agent pickup: Dunta Robinson, CB, Falcons. He gives them a legitimate corner in the secondary. He can play man, which the Falcons have lacked. He will help the pass rush with his cover skills.
Worst free-agent pickup: That's easy. It's Antonio Bryant. Heck, the Bengals already released him. So for another option, try Bears RB Chester Taylor. Why do they need him with Matt Forte?
