Saints place long snapper Kyle on IR, sign Ingram

  •

NEW ORLEANS -- Long snapper Jason Kyle of the New Orleans Saints will miss the rest of the season because of a shoulder injury.

Saints general manager Mickey Loomis says the team has signed Jake Ingram as Kyle's replacement.

Ingram began his NFL career in 2009 with New England. He has played in 24 regular-season games but was waived by the Patriots earlier this month after handling long snapping for their first eight games.

The 38-year-old Kyle is a 16-year NFL veteran. He is in his second season with the Saints.

Kyle was the snapper in all 25 games since he signed with the Saints in 2009. He also made two tackles and recovered a fumble on special teams in nine games this season.
