Tampa Bay places safety Grimm (knee) on IR

Bucs safety Cody Grimm was placed on injured reserve with an injured MCL and potentially other damage in his right knee suffered against Minnesota.

He will be replaced in the lineup by Corey Lynch, who will start next to Sean Jones. Another option could be to look into whether the league will reinstate Tanard Jackson, who was suspended for a year last season. Coach Raheem Morris declined to speculate last week on the Bucs' interest in Jackson, calling it a league matter.

It's the second consecutive season Grimm has landed on injured reserve. He started nine games last season before suffering a broken leg.

Grimm lacks elite athleticism, but has drawn praise for his knowledge of the defense and always being in the right position -- and helping to organize the Bucs' secondary.
