Weatherford hopes to return to Giants
--Punter Steve Weatherford, who headlines a 24-member Giants free agent class, said that his representatives and the Giants have had preliminary discussions about a new multiyear deal, but that they put those talks on hold pending the conclusion of the super Bowl.
"We've been talking for a while, but we haven't made any progress," Weatherford told WFAN. "But it's something I think is a priority for both sides. We should get something done. I'm optimistic."
--Defensive end Osi Umenyiora, who has made waves over his contract in the past, said he would like to return to the Giants to finish out the remaining year left on the deal he signed in 2006, but that the decision was not up to him.
"They're going to have to make that decision; it's not going to be on me," he said.
--Left tackle Will Beatty, who missed the final nine regular-season games with a detached retina, said he has been cleared by doctors to return to football and that he is looking forward to getting back out on the field.
Beatty, who will be married this weekend, said. "I got drafted right after we won the Super Bowl and everybody kept saying, 'There's nothing like this feeling. This is what you want to get back to.' Being able to see this, I'm hungrier for it, and we can go get it again."
--Wide receiver Mario Manningham, another of the Giants' upcoming unrestricted free agents, said that he would like to return next year, but he wasn't sure that would happen.
"I want to come back, but I don't know what's going to happen," said Manningham, whose 38-yard reception kicked off the game-winning scoring drive in Super Bowl XLVI. "I'm just going to try and enjoy this (win). I'm not really thinking about it right now."
--In each of Giants' four Super Bowl victories, they trailed at halftime. In Super Bowl XXI, they were down 10-9 to Denver; in their second, Super Bowl XXV, they were down 12-10 to Buffalo; in their third, Super Bowl XLII, they trailed New England 7-3; and in Super Bowl XLVI, they trailed the Patriots 10-9.

The players are defensive back Brandon Bing, running back Andre Brown, offensive lineman Selvish Capers, wide receiver Dan DePalma, defensive tackle Dwayne Hendricks, tight end Christian Hopkins, quarterback Ryan Perrilloux, wide receiver Isaiah Stanback, and defensive end Adrian Tracy.
