Eagles need Vick to stay healthy

  •

--One of the things the Eagles will try to drum into Michael Vick's head in the offseason is the importance of him staying healthy. Vick, who takes too many chances running with the football, missed three games with broken ribs this season. The Eagles lost two of them. While his mobility is one of the things that makes him special, it also gets him hurt far too often. The Eagles need a starting quarterback they can count on to be there for 16 games.

"You look at the last four teams that played in the playoffs this year and all four quarterbacks didn't miss a start," Reid said. "Michael is aware of that and he understands how important it is to this football team when he's healthy."

--While owner Jeff Lurie has called the Eagles' season-ending four-game winning streak "fools gold," at least one of his players - Pro Bowl defensive end Trent Cole - thinks those four games were an indication of how good the Eagles can be in 2012.

"We had a bad year," Cole said. "We just couldn't pull it off at the last minute. But we were right there, inches away from being great, being a dominant, dominant, dominant team. I think some teams are going to be worried about playing us," next season.
