NFL roundup: Pierre-Paul pulls out of pro wrestling appearance

  •

Apparently New York Giants defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul had second thoughts about confronting a pro wrestler in the ring, even if no actual wrestling would be involved.

Despite reports on Saturday that Pierre-Paul would make an appearance Monday night as part of TNA Wrestling, Foxsports.com reported Sunday that the deal is off.

Robert Bailey, the president of Rosenhaus Sports, said told FOXSports.com that Pierre-Paul will not be on hand for Monday???s event in Orlando, Fla.

Total Nonstop Action and Spike TV officials were led to believe a deal had been finalized for Pierre-Paul to confront Kurt Angle in the ring during the TNA television taping of the event.

But Pierre-Paul had not signed to participate when it was reported Saturday, and he has no plans to sign.

"He declined because he is exhausted," Bailey told FOXSports.com in a text message.

It was never in the plans for Pierre-Paul to wrestle Angle. He was just supposed to get into a verbal altercation with the pro wrestler. Angle had participated in a similar stunt with New York Jets linebacker Bart Scott last year.

--- New England Patriots running back Kevin Faulk, who was told a few hours before the Super Bowl that he wouldn???t be suiting up for the game, has not decided whether he will retire, but it sounded like he???s strongly considering it, based on a recent interview.

"That morning when I got the word that I wasn't going to dress -- wow," Faulk said during an interview with NESN Daily. ???I cried a little bit because 75 percent of me knew that this could possibly be my last game playing -- not playing, just dressing. If I dressed there could possibly be that much of a chance that I could play, so that really crushed me a whole lot."

"I know everyone speculated that I was going to make a decision (after the Super Bowl about retirement)," Faulk said. "It's kind of early, and I don't want to tie my emotions to what went on the Sunday that passed. What went on the whole course of the season."

---Cleveland Browns tight end Ben Watson, who had problems with concussions throughout the 2011 season and was placed on injured reserve following a third concussion, said he feels great two months later.

"I'm great. Three or four days after the last incident, I felt normal," Watson told NFL.com. "I passed all my cognitive tests. I didn't have any headaches. I didn???t have any nausea. I didn???t have any dizziness. With three games left, they just erred on the side of caution and decided to end the season for me.???
