Offensive tackle Marcus Gilbert will be moved to the left side next season to protect quarterback Ben Roethlisberger's blind side, Steelers general manager Kevin Colbert told KDKA-FM in Pittsburgh, via ProFootballTalk.com.
Gilbert played in 14 games as a rookie, including 13 starts at right tackle, and was voted the team's Rookie of the Year despite being benched one game by coach Mike Tomlin for poor practice-week preparation.
The Steelers are expecting Willie Colon back on the right side after finishing his second straight year on injured reserve. Max Starks was re-signed last season at the behest of Roethlisberger, but Pittsburgh gave up 42 sacks. Starks is recovering from a torn ACL and is scheduled to be a free agent.
