Carolina Panthers running back Mike Goodson announced on his Twitter feed that he was traded to the Oakland Raiders. Neither team announced the trade, which is likely pending a physical and league approval.
Goodson wrote: "Lol just got a trade call #crayzzzyyyyyyy. Newest Oakland Raider !!!!! Headin to Cali!...Big S/o to all my Panther Fans Thanks for all the love and support !!!!!!"
The deal relieves the Panthers' overflowing depth chart, which grew earlier in March when the Panthers signed Mike Tolbert to a four-year, $10 million deal. Tolbert is expected to play more fullback than he did with the Chargers but will also get some carries behind DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart, coach Ron Rivera said at the NFL meetings in Florida.
Goodson, who appeared in only four games in 2011 because of a hamstring injury, notched 103 rushes for 452 yards in 2010, and becomes Oakland's insurance policy for oft-injured starter Darren McFadden. Former Raiders No. 2 back Michael Bush left via free agency, signing with the Bears.
