The NFL's new rookie wage scale, part of last summer's collective bargaining agreement, is making the signing of draft picks seem effortless compared to the past. As of May 17, the Bills had seven of their nine picks done, including No. 1 pick Stephon Gilmore.

The 10th overall pick out of South Carolina signed a four-year deal worth $12 million guaranteed. In another sign of the times, team CEO Russ Brandon posted a photo of Gilmore signing his deal on Twitter. A two-time All-SEC pick, Gilmore is slated to take over one starting cornerback spot after the release of veteran Drayton Florence. During a recent rookie camp, Gilmore impressed onlookers with several pass breakups and one interception. He flashed the deep coverage speed Buffalo lacked last year.

"I wasn't going to let it be a distraction. I wasn't really worried about it," Gilmore said of his deal. "I knew it was going to come through. Now I can just focus on football and do what I want to do."

Gilmore will get his first chance to go against veteran receivers like Stevie Johnson when OTAs start May 29.
