Raiders owner seeks permission to interview Norv Turner

Miami Dolphins sources have told SportsLine.com that Raiders owner Al Davis has requested permission to interview assistant coach Norv Turner for Oakland's head-coaching job.

Dallas assistant head coach Sean Payton was offered the Raiders job but turned it down to remain with the Cowboys, a story first reported earlier Wednesday by SportsLine.com.

Turner, the Dolphins offensive coordinator and assistant head coach, is considered one of the finer offensive minds in the league. He was the head coach of the Washington Redskins from 1994-2000 and his record there was 49-59-1.
