Bears trade for fullback Johnson

CHICAGO -- The Chicago Bears acquired fullback Bryan Johnson from the Washington Redskins in exchange for an undisclosed draft pick Monday.

Johnson, a converted linebacker, started in 11 of 16 games with the Redskins last season. The 245-pound fullback caught nine passes for 71 yards and had two carries for 5 yards.

In 2002, Johnson lead Washington with 21 special-teams tackles.

Johnson signed with Washington out of Boise State as an undrafted free agent in August 2000, and spent most of his rookie year on the Redskins' practice squad.
