GREEN BAY, Wis. -- The Packers signed free
agent cornerback-kick returner Chris Watson
on Thursday.
They also re-signed linebacker Paris Lenon, a restricted free agent.
Watson has played in 58 NFL games, starting 14. He was with Detroit last
season, where he worked with new Packers defensive backs coach Kurt
Schottenheimer, then the Lions defensive coordinator.
He went on injured reserve Sept. 6 with a bad back and accepted an
injury settlement six days later, remaining out of football for the rest
of the year.
Watson spent his first three seasons with Buffalo after being traded
from the Denver Broncos, who drafted him in the third round in 1999 out
of Eastern Illinois.
Watson has 110 tackles, two interceptions, 23 passes broken up and 25
special teams stops. He has a 21.9-yard average on 97 kickoff returns
and a 6.5-yard average on 77 punt returns.
Lenon is a backup linebacker and plays on special teams.
