The Aberrations: Where'd they come from -- and go?

By | SportsLine.com Senior Writer

As you scan the NFL record books, it hits like a finger in the eye, forcing a wait-that-can't-be-true reaction.

Did that guy really accomplish that?

Perusing the great names of NFL lore, many with multiple listings in the records section of the league's Record and Fact Book, we find some players' names that simply don't seem right there.

When they accomplished these feats, and none can be erased, could we have imagined that many of these players would eventually join a list of NFL aberrations -- record-setting games or seasons that don't seem to belong?

The record book says they are special, even if it was only for a day or a season.
