Cowboys 21, Raiders 20

OAKLAND, Calif. -- Kerry Collins' one completion covered almost as many yards as Rich Gannon's seven. That's one reason why he might be a better fit in the Oakland Raiders' new offense.

Collins' 89-yard scoring strike to Doug Gabriel in the third quarter was the biggest play of the game before the Dallas Cowboys rallied to beat Oakland on Tony Romo's 1-yard keeper with six seconds left.

After Dallas' first-team offense was kept out of the end zone for the second straight week, the Cowboys' backup quarterbacks -- Drew Henson and Romo -- engineered touchdown drives in the second half.

Packers 19, Saints 14

GREEN BAY, Wis. -- Darren Sharper, emboldened by strong safety Mark Roman's insertion into the lineup, returned an interception 90 yards for a touchdown in the Green Bay Packers' victory over the New Orleans Saints.

Sharper hadn't been able to showcase his playmaking abilities since LeRoy Butler's last game in 2001, but he was turned loose with Roman roaming deep for the Packers (1-1).

Roman, who signed a three-year, $2.75 million free agent contract in March after four years in Cincinnati, has been involved in a heated training camp fight with Marques Anderson for the starting job.

Bears 20, 49ers 13

CHICAGO -- Brock Forsey, looking to land a roster spot as a backup tailback, scored on a go-ahead 2-yard run late in the third quarter and the Chicago Bears beat the San Francisco 49ers.

Chicago is 2-0 in the preseason under new head coach Lovie Smith.

The Bears' victory came on a night they acquired Pro Bowl defensive end Adewale Ogunleye from the Miami Dolphins for reliable receiver Marty Booker, who made 100 catches in 2001 and 97 the following season for a trip to the Pro Bowl.

Steelers 38, Texans 3

PITTSBURGH -- Jerome Bettis showed that his 32-year-old legs can still deliver for the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The running back had 10 carries for 48 yards and a touchdown in Pittsburgh's win over the Houston Texans.

The Steelers were able to dominate the clock in the first half with Bettis in the backfield.

Chargers 38, Cardinals 13

TEMPE, Ariz. -- Drew Brees continued his strong exhibition season, passing the San Diego Chargers to a big halftime lead and a victory over the Arizona Cardinals.

For the second straight game, coach Marty Schottenheimer sat LaDainian Tomlinson, the Chargers' marquee player. San Diego is still without unsigned rookie quarterback Philip Rivers, the player they received after trading Eli Manning.

As it turned out, neither Tomlinson, the only player to rush for over 1,000 yards and catch 100 passes in the same season, nor Rivers was needed.

Browns 17, Lions 10

CLEVELAND -- Jeff Garcia got the Cleveland Browns into the end zone and helped them to a victory they really wanted.

After failing to score a touchdown in their exhibition opener last week, Lee Suggs ran in untouched for two scores and the Browns beat the Detroit Lions.

Garcia led the much-improved offense, going 5-for-7 for 55 yards, including a 25-yard completion to Kellen Winslow Jr. on third and 13. The rookie tight end turned and leaped to make the tough catch before his head was driven into the turf.
