MANCHESTER, England -- Tampa Bay Buccaneers owner Malcolm Glazer made another bid to buy Manchester United after the world's richest soccer team turned him down in October.
The Manchester United board said Sunday it received the proposal and another announcement will be made "in due course." United's fans, however, needed little time to address Glazer's latest move.
"Will this man not take no for an answer?" said Jules Spencer, chairman of the Independent Manchester United Supporters' Association. "We have made our feelings about him perfectly clear. We do not want him involved in our club."
Glazer has a 28.1 percent stake in the team, and his takeover bid of $1.54 billion in the fall was rejected. United said it was based on a high level of borrowing. Glazer responded by ousting three board members the following month.
Glazer repeatedly has increased his stake in the club, but he is not the biggest shareholder. Irish businessmen and racehorse owners John Magnier and JP McManus own 28.9 percent and so far have made no comment on Glazer's approaches.
United, a 15-time league champion, has a record 11 FA Cup triumphs and two European Cups.
