Steelers re-sign cornerback Townsend, add Bailey

PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Steelers re-signed cornerback Deshea Townsend on Friday.

Townsend has played eight seasons for the Steelers, who drafted him in the fourth round out of Alabama in 1998.

Townsend has started the past season-and-a-half and has 13½ sacks and 14 interceptions for his career.

The Steelers also signed defensive end Rodney Bailey, who played for Seattle last year to back up projected starter Brett Keisel.

Bailey started his career with the Steelers in 2001 as a sixth-round draft pick from Ohio State.

He also has played for New England. In 56 games, he has 9½ sacks.
