Panthers' Smith out for Sunday's game at Minnesota

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- All-Pro receiver Steve Smith did not travel with the Carolina Panthers on Saturday and will miss the team's game Sunday at Minnesota.

Smith hasn't practiced or played since straining his right hamstring in practice Sept. 5.

Drew Carter and Keary Colbert are expected to split time opposite Keyshawn Johnson against the Vikings.

Smith, who led the league with 103 catches for 1,563 yards and 12 touchdowns last season, has been plagued by hamstring injuries to both legs since the start of training camp.

Without Smith, the Panthers failed to score a touchdown in a 20-6 season-opening loss to Atlanta.

Running back Nick Goings also did not travel with the team.
