COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Tennessee Titans linebacker Rob Reynolds pleaded guilty Monday to smashing a cell phone and
punching a hole in a wall, but avoided more serious charges after a
fight with his estranged wife.
Reynolds was fined $300 and avoided probation after pleading guilty to
criminal damaging and a reduced charge of disorderly conduct, both
misdemeanors. Judge Carrie Glaeden ruled that if the former Ohio State
player is convicted of another charge in the next year he faces further
punishment.
An arrest warrant was issued for him on charges of domestic violence,
assault and criminal damaging after a fight with his wife at her
suburban Upper Arlington home Oct. 21. The couple's divorce is to be
completed Tuesday.
Jennifer Reynolds told police her husband had driven to her home to
visit their 2-year-old son and had started drinking that morning. They
were watching TV when Reynolds found another man's number in her cell
phone.
She told police her husband threw the phone against the living room
wall, destroying the phone, and punched a small hole in the wall. She
followed him outside, where he shoved her with both hands, causing her
to fall against a wall.
Jennifer Reynolds, who was not hurt, told police she did not want to
press charges and declined to seek a protection order.
