Cutler leaves game with head injury, returns

DENVER (AP) -Broncos quarterback Jay Cutler left Denver's game against San Francisco after taking a hit from Anthony Adams early in the second quarter Sunday.

Cutler was replaced by Jake Plummer, but returned after halftime with the Broncos clinging to a 13-10 lead.

Cutler was dropping back to pass when Adams hit him from the front and then fell on top of him, causing Cutler to fumble. However, the 49ers were called for illegal contact downfield on the play and Denver kept the ball.

Plummer led the Broncos to a field goal to give them a 6-0 lead in the second quarter.
