Will Rob Gronkowski catch 17 touchdown passes in 2012?

He's a great player, but now teams know what he can do. That will mean a lot more focus in terms of doubles coming his way. Tom Brady is great because he knows how to find the single and take advantage of that, which means going away from Gronkoswki. He will get to 12. But he won't hit 17.

Another guy who had a career season. Injuries, coverages or both will keep his numbers down this season. Plus, Tom Brady has more options for pass catchers than he did in 2011.

Something about Gronkowski's offseason worries me. The only person who has hit more banquets and parties than the Gronk is Victor Cruz. I think we see a slight drop in production from Gronkowski this year and then it picks up in the next.

No shame in "only" coming in with 12-15, but I expect a little more diversity in this attack now, more deep balls to Brandon Lloyd, and frankly I have a feeling the Pats will be sitting on the ball in the second half of blowouts a decent amount as well and getting reps for their young running backs.

Gronkowski is capable of 17 TD receptions, but teams will look for ways to take Gronk away. Brady now has a deep threat in Brandon Lloyd and that takes away from Gronk's touchdown production.

Gronk's a beast but TD catches are tough to repeat. Aaron Hernandez will be more involved and Brandon Lloyd will steal some of his scores. If you're drafting for fantasy, go Jimmy Graham before you go Gronk. You heard it here first.

Gronkowski, along with New Orleans' Jimmy Graham, had a season for the ages for tight ends in 2011. He was the prototype of the new-fangled tight end, a big, fast wide receiver who can block and catch anything thrown his way. He was awesome. But there's still an injury question surrounding Gronkowski, and I think that's part of the reason the Patriots splurged on tight ends this offseason. If Gronkowksi can stay healthy, sure, he can get 17 touchdowns. But I don't think he'll stay healthy.

There are reports that Aaron Hernandez has emerged as Tom Brady's favorite target but the reality is this: Gronkowski is one of the NFL's best -- and biggest -- red-zone targets.
