Will Mark Sanchez start 12 games at quarterback for the Jets in 2012?

Mark Sanchez: 12 starts. Over or under?

This is based on performance, taking away the injury factor. If he's healthy, he plays more than 12. The Tebow cult would like to think that he will take the job -- including some in the media -- but Tebow can't pass the football. I say Sanchez, if healthy, starts all 16. Too bad he'll have to deal with The Gimmick the entire season if he does.

The guy missed one game in three years, for crying out loud. I don't buy into this quarterback controversy. Sanchez is the starter, period, and he starts all or most of the games.

Tebow is going to start. It's only as matter of time. Sanchez will get off to his usual rough start and the clamor for Tebow will be deafening. And impossible to ignore. Tebow starts in Week 5.

I don't like the makeup of the offensive line, particularly right tackle. The running game has not been robust. And Tebow is next in line. Santonio Holmes is already banged up and if teams double Dustin Keller I'm not sure the Jets can beat them outside the hashes. This season has the potential to blow out and I smell a quarterback controversy.

Sanchez is under a big microscope but will start at least 12 games. He has led his team to two AFC championship games and has more touchdown passes in his first three seasons (37) than Ben Roethlisberger had (34) in his first three years.

Rex will keep rolling him out there as the starter even if he's being pulled. And win or lose, Rex will keep saying that's been his plan all along.

I think Sanchez could be so much better than what he's shown during his career. This is the same guy who helped lead the Jets to back-to-back AFC championship games in his first two seasons -- and he had to do his work in road games -- and there are times you can see the first-round talent. But Tebow will put pressure on the coaching staff to replace Sanchez at some point, and considering the skill players around Sanchez are weak, he'll get replaced midway through the season.

If we're at the point where we're having the "should Tebow start?" conversations, the Jets are done. As in: general manager Mike Tannenbaum, coach Rex Ryan and Sanchez should all start thinking about what they'll be doing (and where they'll be doing it) in 2013.
