| We think Randle has the best chance to pick up extra practice reps and potentially take over some work from Nicks in the early portion of the season. Barden looks like an intriguing prospect but a slow start to his career makes him tough to trust. Hixon is even more injury prone than Nicks. Neither of the Giants' veteran receivers are worth drafting right now. | |||||||

| At 6-foot-3 and 210 pounds, the Giants found a tall receiver with athleticism who was going to push for playing time from the start of training camp anyway. Now, he might wedge his way into getting a ton of looks from Manning this summer and being even more comfortable with Manning when the bullets are live. We'd be surprised if he didn't make at least a small impact for the Giants in 2012, and he could make a big dent if Nicks' recovery is slow. Draft Randle with a late pick in seasonal formats, a middle- to late-round pick in dynasty/keeper leagues and a second-round pick in rookie-only drafts. | |||||||

| Manning was going to get plenty of time to work with those players anyway, but every extra little bit helps. So long as Nicks is back in the swing of things before the start of the regular season, the injury news doesn't impact Manning. Coming off his second Super Bowl, and passing for 4,933 yards, 29 touchdowns and 16 interceptions, Manning is a rock-solid No. 1 Fantasy passer worth a pick starting in Round 4 or 5 in drafts. | |||||||

| Bennett has a real chance to not only start for the Giants but stand out at the tight end position. A goliath with worlds of potential, Bennett was dogged by bad habits and depth chart issues during his time in Dallas. The Giants might be the team to take him out of his funk. We'd consider him with a late pick in deeper Fantasy leagues. | |||||||

| Fantasy Analysis | |||||||
| Unless the diagnosis on Nicks' foot changes, we're not believers that he'll be ready in six weeks and thus long before the start of training camp. Nicks' teammate, Prince Amukamara, took 15 weeks before he was comfortable practicing last year according to the Newark Star-Ledger and he had the same injury. Nicks has had all sorts of issues with hamstrings, knees and his feet over the years. So long as he is healthy for the start of the season and gets some work in camp and a preseason game or two, the injury is more of a reminder that he's injury prone and less of a factor on his 2012 season. We'll see if this lasts into late August and the regular season; for now expect his stock to slip in drafts. He'll be a Round 3-4 choice as a low-end No. 1/high-end No. 2 Fantasy receiver. | |||||||

| The Giants might view this injury as an opportunity to find ways to get Cruz open without Nicks attracting some coverage. The bottom line is that Cruz is sure to stay involved in the Giants' offense, and it'll only help him if he works in camp as their top receiver without any help from Nicks. Coming off a breakout season where he had 82 catches for a franchise-record 1,536 yards and nine touchdowns before adding 21 more catches for 269 yards and a touchdown in the playoffs, and now entering a contract year, it's tough to not love Cruz in 2012. He's a No. 1 option worth a pick in Rounds 3 or 4. | |||||||
