| Sure, the Steelers were banged up. Yes, they were on the road. But the league's stingiest pass defense alllowed a struggling Tim Tebow to heave the ball downfield for completions of 58, 51, 30 and 40 yards. The No. 1 overall defense allowed Denver to put up nearly 400 yards overall. QB Ben Roethlisberger showed why he's one of the gutsiest players in the postseason, leading two TD drives and a FG march after falling behind 20-6 at halftime. But this is a game that will haunt Pittsburgh all offseason. -- Lee Rasizer | ||

| C is the mark for average, which the Steelers were on offense, defense and special teams -– if that -- against a 4-11 bunch. C also is for c-c-c-cold, which the blowing wind made Cleveland Browns Stadium. And C is for charter, because the Steelers will be the No. 5 seed and road-bound. -- Marty Gitlin, RapidReports Correspondent | ||

| They shut out a 2-12 team that has scored all of 15 TDs and previously averaged 11 points per game. In short: Not overly impressive. "This is a game we expected to win. People expected us to win," S Ryan Clark said. And they did, in workmanlike fashion. -- Chuck Finder, RapidReports Correspondent | ||

| Two second-quarter Steelers fumbles inside the red zone changed the game's complexion. In turn, the defense was required to make two critical takeaways -- one in the end zone with three minutes remaining. True, the Steelers lost C Maurkice Pouncey, DE Ziggy Hood and, briefly, Ben Roethlisberger to injuries. Still, it was Cleveland. -- Chuck Finder, RapidReports Correspondent | ||

| They scored 28 points in a second quarter when the Bengals have been outscored by 119-39, so the outburst could be something of a mirage. Cincinnati had 80 yards in first-half penalties and gave them their third multiple-takeaway game in a row. The best news: Four days until Cleveland. -- Chuck Finder, RapidReports Correspondent | ||

| The Steelers were without LB LaMarr Woodley going into the game, and then lost SS Troy Polamalu (head) and C Maurkice Pouncey (illness) during the game. But the Pittsburgh defense kept the stumbling Chiefs offense from doing any damage. Playing for the first time with his broken right thumb, QB Ben Roethlisberger was not sensational, but he was overall effective. -- Bob Gretz, RapidReports Correspondent | ||

| The effort was far from perfect. An interception, five sacks allowed and multiple missed opportunities to put the game away let the Bengals hang around. Yet, the Steelers defense of old finally showed up with two fourth-quarter INTs to equal their total for the season just in time to pull out a critical division road victory. -- Paul Dehner, RapidReports Correspondent | ||

| They climbed from a 10-point deficit in the fourth quarter and turned the ball over to the defense with 92 yards behind it. Pass defense continues to be problematic, especially if the rush doesn't dominate. And failing to try that late field-goal could haunt their home-field dreams. -- Chuck Finder, RapidReports Correspondent | ||

| They doubled up the Patriots' time of possession, they held Tom Brady to fewer than 200 yards passing for the first time this season, and still it was a one-score margin. Somewhere, Bill Belichick might be thinking: There's a lot in the bag for a playoff meeting. -- Chuck Finder, RapidReports Correspondent | ||

| The passing game rescued the day. Ben Roethlisberger was much improved over the second half last week. WR Mike Wallace topped 100 yards for the seventh time in 10 games. The running game didn't produce overall. The defense yielded 329 yards, two long drives and a 73-yard TD, though only 78 yards on four catches to WR Larry Fitzgerald. -- Chuck Finder, RapidReports Correspondent | ||

| The Steelers were an A in the first half. One completion in the end zone, and they're a resounding F. The offense, after a 17-0 start, evaporated as Ben Roethlisberger ended on a 1-for-6 skein. The defense yielded almost as many Jacksonville second-half points (10) as the previous five foes combined (13). Not good. -- Chuck Finder, RapidReports Correspondent | ||

| The offense protected Ben Roethlisberger and moved the ball via the pass. Taking a lead allowed the defense to turn up the heat and secure only its second takeaway of the season. -- Chuck Finder, RapidReports Correspondent | ||

| The defense kept Texans from blowing game open in the first half, but couldn't stop Arian Foster. With a patchwork OL, Ben Roethlisberger was unable to utilize deep threat Mike Wallace, as he was sacked five times and hit constantly. Steelers lost three key defensive players and RB Rashad Mendenhall to injuries. -- Brandon Williams, RapidReports Correspondent | ||

| Pittsburgh did what they usually do, which was to find a way to win. The Steelers, namely QB Ben Roethlisberger, coughed up the football twice. But Big Ben was also outstanding in guiding Pittsburgh on the game-winning drive. The Steelers forced their first turnover of the season and it came at an opportune time in the game. -- Tom James, RapidReports Correspondent | ||

| For as putrid as the Steelers played a week earlier in Baltimore, this equated to an SAT perfect score. Ben Roethlisberger passed for 298 yards. The running game collected more than 100. The defense conjured five sacks. And Week 1 star Daniel Sepulveda hardly punted. Still, the competition was young, weak. -- Chuck Finder, RapidReports Correspondent | ||

| Pittsburgh was done after committing two turnovers in two offensive plays to start the second half. It couldn't establish the ground game with RB Rashard Mendenhall and QB Ben Roethlisberger was out of sync, throwing three interceptions. The defense looked a step slow as Baltimore had its way offensively. -- Jason Butt, RapidReports Correspondent | ||
