01/15/17RBAlfred MorrisCoach's DecisionOUTMorris is inactive for Sunday's playoff game against the Packers.

With Darren McFadden having returned to the Cowboys' backfield mix behind starter Ezekiel Elliott, Morris is the odd man out at running back as the team's playoff push begins.

01/15/17QBMark SanchezCoach's DecisionOUTSanchez is inactive for Sunday's playoff game against the Packers.

01/13/17LBJaylon SmithKneeOUTSmith says the nerve in his surgically repaired knee has begun regenerating, and the Cowboys are anticipating him being able to participate in their OTAs in May, Todd Archer of ESPN reports. "I'm getting my linear speed back like I said. I'm running a 4.5 right now so. ... But with the pace that I'm keeping up, you could tell that I'm definitely getting my linear speed back and the change of direction and things like that. I mean, I feel great," Smith said Thursday.

The 2016 second round pick is still wearing a brace to support his foot and lower leg due to the nerve damage and says he thinks he'll be able to play while wearing it -- the fact that he's already able to post a 4.5 in the 40-yard dash backs up that level of optimism -- but if he fully recovers, he'll be able to shed the brace completely. Smith likely would have been a top five pick in his draft class were it not for the injury, so if he does make a full recovery, the Cowboys could be adding an impact player to the heart of their defense in 2017.

01/06/17DLRandy GregorySuspensionSUSPENDGregory has been been suspended for at least one year for violating the NFL's Policy for Substances of Abuse, the Cowboys' official site reports.

Gregory missed the first 14 games of this season due to his first two violations of the policy, and a third will wipe away the entire 2017 campaign. Although he flashed the talent that made him a second-round pick in 2015 during the Cowboys' last two contests, he'll have to wait until 2018, at the very least, before his pass-rushing chops will be felt again.

McClain satisfied his previous 10-game suspension at the conclusion of Week 11, but is now facing further discipline due to a missed drug test. The Cowboys reportedly don't expect McClain to play another snap in the NFL.

Jenkins was well on his way towards earning a roster spot before going down, as he was one of few promising candidates to help rebuild Dallas' injury-marred defensive line. Now, he'll presumably take aim at a year-2017 return.
