04/27/16DBBrandon FlowersKneePROBABLEFlowers was placed on injured reserve Saturday, ESPN's Eric Williams reports.

The injuries just keep coming for the Chargers. Flowers, a key cog in the team's defense, will join Corey Liueget on the sidelines after the team opted to place both players on IR. Steve Williams or Greg Ducre will likely get the start in place of Flowers.

04/27/16RBMelvin GordonKneePROBABLEGordon (knee) recently admitted he was "terrible" during his rookie season, but he's confident that the year of experience will help him in 2016, ESPN.com reports.

The 15th overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft, Gordon posted an ugly 184-641-0 rushing line (3.5 YPC) in 14 games as a rookie, eventually missing the final two contests with a meniscus injury. He should recover from early-January surgery before the start of training camp, and he'll likely get most of the first-team snaps, albeit with Danny Woodhead handling third-down duties. As he admitted, Gordon was a big part of the problem during his rookie season, but it obviously isn't his fault that the San Diego offensive line was ravaged by an unusual number of injuries.

04/27/16WRSteve JohnsonGroinPROBABLEAfter missing the final four games of the regular season, Johnson finished 2015 with 45 catches for 497 yards and three touchdowns in ten games.

Johnson missed a total of six games because a hamstring injury caused him to miss Weeks 5 and 6 in addition to missing the last four games of the year due to a groin injury. When he was healthy, he was a productive slot receiver who would typically make four or five catches per game on a good passing team. Johnson should be back for more of the same in 2016.

04/27/16DLCorey LiugetFootPROBABLELiuget (foot) was placed on injured reserve Saturday, ESPN's Eric Williams reports.

Liuget recorded 34 tackles (28 solo) and 3 sacks before injuring his foot in a Week 13 contest against the Broncos -- an injury that will end his season. The team activated defensive lineman Darius Philon (hip) from the injured reserve/designated to return list to replace Liuget.

04/27/16RBBranden OliverToePROBABLEOliver -- who is dealing with turf toe -- was on crutches, with his right foot in a protective boot Monday, Michael Gehlken of the San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

If Oliver is forced to miss time, Melvin Gordon and Danny Woodhead should pick up some extra snaps in the Chargers' backfield, with Donald Brown a candidate to be activated for next Monday's game against the Bears.

04/27/16DBJason VerrettHamstringPROBABLEVerrett (hamstring) has begun working out with fellow Chargers teammates, ESPN's Eric D. Williams reports.

Verrett, who missed the Chargers final game of the regular season due to a hamstring injury, was spotted working out with a few members of the secondary at a training facility in California. San Diego's leader in interceptions last year, Verrett is expected to take over more of a leadership role on defense with veteran captain Eric Weddle widely expected to sign with another team during the offseason.
