Chargers' Jamaal Jones: Signs with Chargers
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Jones signed a reserve/future contract with the Chargers on Thursday.

Jones was with the Chargers last offseason but was eventually released near the end of the preseason. He'll look to earn a role as a depth receiver and special teams player in 2017.

Chargers' Danny Woodhead: 'Ahead of schedule' in recovery
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Woodhead is "six weeks ahead of schedule" in his recovery from an ACL tear in his right knee, Michael Gehlken of the San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

As he approaches the four-month mark in his rehab, Woodhead has already progressed to cutting, which bodes well for his personal goal of full health by the start of the offseason program. Where he'll be situated in a few months remains to be seen, though, due to his upcoming unrestricted free agency. If the Chargers keep him around as a complement to workhorse RB Melvin Gordon, Woodhead will help lead the charge in their relocation to Los Angeles.

Chargers' Josh Lambo: So-so in 2016
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Lambo converted 26 of 32 field-goal attempts and 42 of 46 extra points in 2016.

Special teams wasn't the peak of the Chargers' pride in 2016, and the kicking unit wasn't an exception. Not only did Lambo offer little to no dependability from far out, as made clear by his 0-for-3 mark from beyond 50 yards, the second-year player out of Marist also sent three kickoffs out of bounds during the course of the campaign, gifting great field position to the opposing team on multiple occasions. However, Lambo is still a young player and went 4-for-5 from beyond 50 yards his rookie season, so he could make for a bounce-back candidate in 2017 when he'll return to the Chargers on the last year of his current deal.

Chargers' Melvin Gordon: Scores 12 times in sophomore season
by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com

Gordon (knee/hip) rushed 254 times for 997 yards and 10 touchdowns while catching 41 passes (on 57 targets) for 419 yards and two more scores in 13 games this season.

Gordon frustrated fantasy owners by losing four fumbles and failing to score a single touchdown during his rookie season, but the 2015 first-rounder showed precisely why he was so coveted with his strong work this time around. With teammate Danny Woodhead (knee) going down in Week 2, Gordon started the season by scoring 10 touchdowns through San Diego's first seven contests, emerging as a top fantasy tailback along the way. Without much competition for snaps, Gordon only had two games this season in which he neither rushed for 70 yards nor scored a touchdown. One of those was Week 14 versus the Panthers, when Gordon was forced into an early exit due to a strained hip and sprained knee. Although those injuries prevented him from featuring in the Chargers' final three games, Gordon proved plenty capable as an every-down running back, averaging nearly 23 touches per week. With Woodhead slated to be a free agent this offseason, Gordon could enjoy a similar workload next season, when he should rank among the elite options at his position.
