Rams backfield share giving Fantasy owners headaches
by Chris Towers |

The Rams put a scare into Fantasy owner's hearts when Benny Cunningham got the start in the third preseason warmup game, but coaches were quick to stand by Zac Stacy as the team's lead back. After three games, the numbers back that up, but Stacy's hold on the role is clearly more tenuous than we might have thought even a month ago.

For the second time in three games, Stacy basically split the workload with Cunningham in Week 3. Stacy and Cunningham both played 34 of the team's 76, similar to Week 1, when Cunningham actually played one more snap. The overall season workload is skewed in Stacy's favor thanks to a 40-18 split in Week 2, but it's pretty clear these two are in a timeshare.

Stacy has been able to hold off Cunningham by just flat outworking him so far, averaging 4.3 yards per carry to Cunningham's 3.3. Stacy has also been more effective in the passing game, though it is concerning that Cunningham is still encroaching on his playing time with those edges.

At this point, both players need to be owned in all Fantasy leagues, as long as the team splits their time so evenly. However, until Stacy either pushed Cunningham out of the picture or abdicates the role, neither will be a particularly reliable Fantasy option.

Rams defense held sackless, scores touchdown in Week 3
by R.J. White |

The Rams didn't record a sack in Week 3's 34-31 loss to the Cowboys but did return an interception for a touchdown in the game.

Rams defensive end Robert Quinn saw plenty of double and triple teams with Chris Long sidelined, and none of his linemates were able to set up and hit Tony Romo with a sack. With the Rams already up 14-0 in the second quarter, cornerback Janoris Jenkins stepped in front of a Romo pass and cut an easy path to the end zone after making the pick. Defensive back Cody Davis managed to recover a DeMarco Murray fumble in the first quarter, giving the defense two turnovers on the day. The highly-regarded Rams defense has just one sack through three games heading into a Week 4 bye. A matchup with the Eagles awaits them on the other side of the week off.

Austin Pettis catches touchdown in Week 3 loss
by R.J. White |

Rams wide receiver Austin Pettis caught three of his four targets for 28 yards and a touchdown in his team's 34-31 loss to the Cowboys in Week 3.

Davis notched three receptions and four targets for the second straight week, with the big catch coming in the fourth quarter, as Austin Davis hit him in the left side of the end zone to put the team within three points with less than three minutes to play. Pettis has six catches, 74 yards and one touchdown going into the team's Week 4 bye.

Lance Kendricks hauls in touchdown in Week 3
by R.J. White |

Rams tight end Lance Kendricks caught six of his seven targets for 29 yards and a touchdown in his team's 34-31 loss to the Cowboys in Week 3.

Kendricks capped off an 80-yard drive to open the game by grabbing a one-yard score after play action left him in one-on-one coverage on the left side. The solid performance gives him 11 catches, 66 yards and one touchdown in three weeks. The Rams are off in Week 4 before facing the Eagles.
