"I keep getting stronger and I really like how I approached this offseason with spacing it out and not throwing until a little later," Samardzija told MLB.com after the start. "I feel like I’m peaking at the right time. I can’t control [rumors]. I”m just going to come out and pitch and keep doing my job and whatever happens will happen."

Puello, who went 0 for 1 Monday, ends his Grapefruit League play 4 for 11 with two doubles, two RBI and two walks in 10 games played. Leathersich, who gave up a massive home run to Marlins outfielder Giancarlo Stanton Monday, allowed six earned runs in 1 2/3 innings over two appearances. Church made three appearances, including throwing a scoreless inning Monday, allowing three earned runs in three innings this spring.
