Angels' Huston Street: On for spring debut
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Street (knee) is making his 2017 Cactus League debut Friday, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.

Coming off a 6.45 ERA during (surprise) an injury-shortened 2016, Street is battling for the closer role with Cam Bedrosian (groin) and Andrew Bailey, among others. His body of work and name recognition may land him the job initially, but it's wise for fantasy players to remain skeptical, especially considering his health issues and the talent Bedrosian boasts when healthy.

Penguins' Jean-Sebastien Dea: Given qualifying offer Monday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Dea was handed a qualifying offer by the Penguins on Monday, Jason Mackey of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

Dea made his NHL debut this season, albeit in a meaningless final game of the regular season. With the Baby Pens, the center compiled 34 points, 59 PIM, and a plus-13 rating in 73 outings. If the 23-year-old signs his offer, he would come with a league minimum $650,00 cap hit at the NHL level for the upcoming 2017-18 campaign.

Sabres' Brian Gionta: Hopes to remain in Buffalo
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Gionta, who has served as the Sabres' captain since the 2014-15 season, is hoping to stay with the club, John Vogl of The Buffalo News reports.

The 38-year-old has scored at least 30 points in each of his three seasons in Buffalo, and he believes that he can still be a valuable contributor in the NHL. Despite the Sabres' struggles, Gionta was one of the team's most consistent performers, but his role with the club is unclear with a new general manager at the helm.

Penguins' Josh Archibald: Tendered qualifying offer
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Archibald received a qualifying offer from Pittsburgh on Monday, Jason Mackey of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

Archibald played in just 10 regular-season games in 2016-17, but his name will be etched into Lord Stanley's Cup after he suited up for Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Finals. Held off the scoresheet in the playoffs, the winger recorded three goals on the year. Despite his limited appearances, the organization is high on the determined 24-year-old and will probably consider locking him into a lengthier contract once other high-profile targets are re-signed.

Wild's Nino Niederreiter: Earns qualifying offer
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Niederreiter received a qualifying offer by Minnesota.

After posting career highs of 25 goals and 57 points, Niederreiter was an easy option for the Wild to keep the rights to. The 25-year-old winger played all 82 games for his second consecutive season, as well as continuing his reign on the power play, where he scored 14 of his points. Minnesota has some money to spend, so matching offers that Niederreiter shouldn't be a problem.
