--Former NFL linebacker and Cincinnati Bengals linebackers coach Ricky Hunley spent the week helping coach linebackers during OTAs. Hunley was fired as the Bengals' linebacker coach and currently is out of work. He is a close friend of Falcons head coach Mike Smith.

"Ricky played in this league and any time you can expose your guys to former players it's important," Smith said. "They got to know what it's like and someone like Ricky can give them some insight with a player's and coach's point of view because he's done both in this league."

--Third-round picks Chevis Jackson and Thomas DeCoud, both defensive backs, signed four-year deals this week. Jackson, DeCoud, QB Matt Ryan and TE Keith Zinger are all signed, leaving seven other players to finalize contract terms. The Falcons also are close to signing second-round pick and middle linebacker Curtis Lofton. Sixth-round pick Thomas Brown also is close to signing.

--Unsigned first-round draft pick Sam Baker has taken some reps at starting left tackle and has been impressive in picking up the offense. He has gotten a fairly tough introduction into the NFL, not just from stud DE John Abraham but also from the overall tempo.

"He's going to be the guy where it's going to be interesting when he gets the pads on," Boudreau said. "I asked John Abraham not to let up on him and give him some stuff and give him some things he's never seen before. He's picking it up, he's still getting used to the pace we practice.

QUOTE TO NOTE
"If you're in a situation and you get beat physically I can maybe help you from a technique standpoint. If you get beat mentally I can't help you and usually it's a blowup. The quarterback is getting carried off or the running back is getting blown up." -- Offensive line coach Paul Boudreau

Just exactly why didn't the Falcons sign a corner again? Just curious I mean what was holding them back? Not like Brent Grimes, or Tye Hill will be on the team next year anyways and the only reason that ...(more)

Ten Falcons reasons for all Falcons fans to give thanks today:

I'm thankful for the University of Arkansas, who got that hog-sooey idiot Petrino out of town before he could do even more damage.

I'm thankful for the Tennessee Volunteers for hiring Lane Kiffen, which led Monte Kiffen to leave the

Our season is over fellas it's time to pack it in and call it a year the curse will continue on! It's one thing to lose to the Saints, or the Cowboys but the Bucs? Seriously? Our cornerbacks couldn't cover a statue on a Sunday afternoon if they tried! As for ...(more)

Antonio Pierce had an MRI taken yesterday that unexpectedly revealed a bulging disc in his neck.  The risk of serious injury is too great to play him, so he goes directly to "Out" for the Falcons vs Giant ...(more)

I don't know why, but the PA System in the Georgia Dome has been ticking me off lately.  The constant music is not something I like, but more to the point, it is drowning out fan support.

Case in point:  Last Sunday's game versus the Bucs, when we were trying to drive down and take the lead late in the game, there was a chant starting to solidify in unison.  The chant w

Jerious Norwood had hoped to get back onto the field last week, and obviously the Falcons would have loved to have him in action against the Giants as well.  He came down to a game-day decision, and it went aga ...(more)

The VickSuckingEagles are coming into the Dome on Sunday, bringing back all the memories of the biggest disgrace in sports history. A slap in the face to Arthur Blank the Atlanta Falcons and their true fans. This team better show up for this city and owner. And by that I mean, why did the Falcons let him go?  What's the story?  I for one think he's the best offseason addition Dallas has made.  The guy has already established himself as a leader on Defense and he's been playing nothing short of lights-out for us.  There's something to be said for his sideline antics as well, ...(more)

What about a trade for Gaines Adams? He is a pretty good player and will be better than anyone we can get in the draft. He is probably cheap too. He doesn't even start for them but he probably would with us.

This is just a far fetched idea but if we get a pick in the 20s trade the ...(more)

With 5 losses under our belt; and a stretch of several road games it appears our schedule is favorable the last portion of the season.  However,  I am not impressed with the way our DEF has performed over this stretch.  There is an evident lack of pass rush from our DEF, the blitzing has been ineffective at times and our secondary while in position alot of times tend to not be ab ...(more)

The Falcons finally made a smart move and released Jason Elam outright! Bout time something went right for this franchise this season. Hopefully we get a young hungry kicker in here who wants to make a name for himself!!!
