--Former NFL linebacker and Cincinnati Bengals linebackers coach Ricky Hunley spent the week helping coach linebackers during OTAs. Hunley was fired as the Bengals' linebacker coach and currently is out of work. He is a close friend of Falcons head coach Mike Smith.

"Ricky played in this league and any time you can expose your guys to former players it's important," Smith said. "They got to know what it's like and someone like Ricky can give them some insight with a player's and coach's point of view because he's done both in this league."

--Third-round picks Chevis Jackson and Thomas DeCoud, both defensive backs, signed four-year deals this week. Jackson, DeCoud, QB Matt Ryan and TE Keith Zinger are all signed, leaving seven other players to finalize contract terms. The Falcons also are close to signing second-round pick and middle linebacker Curtis Lofton. Sixth-round pick Thomas Brown also is close to signing.

--Unsigned first-round draft pick Sam Baker has taken some reps at starting left tackle and has been impressive in picking up the offense. He has gotten a fairly tough introduction into the NFL, not just from stud DE John Abraham but also from the overall tempo.

"He's going to be the guy where it's going to be interesting when he gets the pads on," Boudreau said. "I asked John Abraham not to let up on him and give him some stuff and give him some things he's never seen before. He's picking it up, he's still getting used to the pace we practice.

QUOTE TO NOTE
"If you're in a situation and you get beat physically I can maybe help you from a technique standpoint. If you get beat mentally I can't help you and usually it's a blowup. The quarterback is getting carried off or the running back is getting blown up." -- Offensive line coach Paul Boudreau

Yeah I know we beat the Redskins but afterall wasn't we suppossed to? I am disugsted with the way our defense played in the 2nd half and the way our so called passing attack failed again. Think god for a (RARE) Michael Turner siting cause if not we could have lost to a ver ...(more)

Smitty said last night at Hibbett Sports (the regular Monday interview was done on Wednesday this week because of the MNF road game) that two more Falcons players would not be able to finish the season but that the team wouldn't make the announcements until today.

Okay, now we know...  add

It's official.  The Falcons have put second round pick William Moore on the shelf for the season.  I haven't heard if he tweaked the hamstring yet again doing rehab or whether he simply wasn't making progress in recovering from the last one.  We saw with ...(more)

I am not pleased at the way this game turned out. It was a well played game.... On the Saints part, and just terrible mental lapses at the worst time on ours. Matt Ryan looked like he took a couple steps back tonight. I know he had that good rebound after that first INT to ...(more)

Just holding a spot for all of my fellow posters to pile on after the game and tell us why our DB's caused Elam to miss those two FG's and Ryan to throw the picks and cost us the game.

Just wanted to stop by and say it was a good game. Yall are the best 4-3 team in the league no doubt. I will say this about the game. that must have been the worst officiating crew of all time. there were blow calls all over the place for both teams. they couldnt get the time right and everything had to be reviewed because the bums couldnt get it right the first time. just stupid crap! But anyway ...(more)

We are going inweek six in the NFL, so most teams know "who they are", and so do I. There are only 5 teams left undefeated at this point into the season. One more team will lose their first game of the season this week.

On First Take yesterday. they were talking some about the Falcons. They mentioned that Tye Hill would be starting on Monday. My question is does anyone know if he actually will, and what you think about it. In my opinion, it is a good move. Grimes plays with a lot of heart ...(more)

I just saw the play with DeAngelo Hall on the sidelines, with our coach caught up in the mix. What a great thing to see, when you as a player are defended by your head coach. This is what makes the Falcons a tough out, they like each other and it starts at the top. Would y ...(more)

I guess I have been thinking too much about the upcoming game between the Falcons and the Cowboys.  This is one of those games in my mind that could go either way.  To me the biggest question marks from a Falcons perspective are:

What type of defensive performanc

I am so disgusted with our secondary! When are the Falcons going to make a move for a lockdown corner for a change? It's been a top priority for many years now!!! I am sick of the nickle and dime crap over the years when it comes to our secondary. Our corners are just terrible and wouldn't even start for most teams. After this season t ...(more)
