--No. 1 pick Leodis McKelvin's 95-yard kickoff return for a touchdown against the Steelers sealed himself a role in the team's special teams plans for 2008. McKelvin showed the speed and explosiveness that allowed him to set an NCAA record with eight career scores while at Troy, reading a key block from fullback Darian Barnes and just leaving the Steelers in his dust. A week earlier against Washington, McKelvin had a 37-yard kickoff return and a 45-yard punt return. The Bills have two of the NFL's best return men in team record-setters Terrence McGee and Roscoe Parrish, but coach Dick Jauron said a team can never have enough of these guys. "Those guys (return men) tend to get nicked so there's room for all of them," he said. "They'll all have their opportunities." McKelvin had one thing on his mind when he got into the open field: Don't get brought down by Steelers kicker Paul Ernster. "The other 10 guys did a great job blocking," he said. "I saw the kicker and I just said, 'I don't want to get tackled by the kicker."'

--QB Trent Edwards, not known for his fleet feet, showed that he can scramble when he has to. On one third-and-13 play at his own 7-yard line, Edwards ran for 22 yards to keep a TD drive alive. "The thing is to be able to recognize when to run and not to run," said Edwards, who finished nine of 11 with two long TD drives. "Good quarterbacks know when to use their speed -- or lack thereof in my case. If nobody's open and you've got 15 yards of space, I'll do what I have to do to keep the chains moving."

--With Jason Peters still out of camp in a contract dispute, Langston Walker earned his second start at left tackle with Kirk Chambers starting on the right side. On Buffalo's second possession, Pittsburgh LB James Harrison blew right past Walker to sack QB Trent Edwards. But considering the first unit put together TD drives of 67 and 90 yards, there wasn't much concern about Peters being out. "They were great up front all day," Edwards said. "We had the right protections in there all week, and like I said, I had plenty of time to throw the ball." Of course, he only played two series and the Steelers gave vanilla looks, something that won't happen in a regular-season game.

--Defensive end Corey Mace, a native of Vancouver, was elated to play a game on his home soil and sing "Oh Canada." He said he'll teach it to his teammates before Dec. 7, when the Bills play Miami at the Rogers Centre. "I'll make them learn it -- at least all the D-linemen," Mace said.

--Bills QB coach and former backup Alex Van Pelt was experiencing dij` vu during the Toronto trip. He played for the Bills in 1997 when they played an American Bowl preseason game at the former SkyDome against Green Bay, a 35-3 loss. Van Pelt was six of 10 for 70 yards in that game. "Here we are again," Van Pelt said. "I think it's great. I mean, why not? We're so close to Toronto, why not come up and attract some fans back to Buffalo. Showing our product a few times a year here might attract more fans to come down and see us. I don't see the leadership in our organization using this as a way to eventually move the team here, it's just an attempt to save the team for Buffalo."

QUOTE TO NOTE
"As a Canadian, I see it both ways. I'd love to say this is just a regionalization effort by the Bills, and it certainly is that. But Toronto is a major league city and it certainly is capable of handling an NFL franchise. What we're dealing with here is who gets stung in the end if they move here permanently? Obviously, Buffalo loses out. For now, I'm happy to see some games here. Let's see where it goes." -- Bills former kicker Steve Christie, a native of Oakville, Ontario, in Toronto to help promote last Thursday's game against Pittsburgh.

Congrats Perry on your first win!
I am use to seeing the Bills playing a great first 3 quarters and a tired, over-worked defense lose the game in the 4th quarter. It was great to see the long ball. Isn't that why we paid Owens $6 million to come to Buffalo. Great to see

Normally with the Phins coming into Buffalo with the weather turning cold and gray the Bills should be the favorite. Not this year the Dolphins are a 3 1/2 point favorite, honestly I'm surprised that it is not more. The Bills O-line is in complete shambles due to injuries, the lin ...(more)

Just interested in seeing how many of you Fans actually pick the usual bottom feeders to beat Miami this week. An if you do predict Buffalo to win dont base it on the fact thast Buffalo plays Miami tough. I know its gonna be hard to find another reason to base this upset but im sure you can find something good in your team. Or maybe you cant i dont.

As for me i see this 1 being a little

Best wishes to former U of L offensive lineman Eric Wood. He suffered a horrific injury yesterday -- compound fractures to his tibia and fibula during Buffalo's game at Jacksonville.

According to a story in the Buffalo News, Wood remained in Jacksonville after the team returned to Buffalo to undergo surgery.

Well it appears that Perry Fewell will be coaching the final 7 games as an audition to remove the interim from his title. It was reported that Mike Shanahan is a choice for the Bills to replace Jauron with but I think that if the Bills finish well under Fewell that he stays on and takes the head coach job. It is also sounding like the Bi ...(more)

To me this is it for Edwards hes got 7 more games to prove he can be the Q.B of the Bills if not then i say trade or draft a new Q.B. Yes McCoy is probabably out of reach and to me tim tebow will fail in the NFL. Sam Bradford might be there for us and possibly Snead from Ole Miss.

Many will probabaly say im stupid fo ...(more)

I think this should really be the goal at this point. It seems like a long-shot, but I truly BILL-lieve. Generally, we will need a few of the equally horrid teams to win a few more games and the Bills to lose out. Here are the factors:

1. Bills losing out. This could easily be accomplished. All of their games except one are again

The question then becomes, is Mike Shanahan interested in the Bills? Adam Schefter reported that the Bills had contact with him to fill the coaching vacancy. This would become one of the better moves the Bills front office has made, and if they do it, one of the last. Shanahan is one of those guys that not only coaches the team, but control ...(more)

Cowher - Said no...for now. He supposedly turned down 10 million a year. My guess is that he is waiting to see if there is a better job out there for next year (more ready to compete team). Is he interested in Washington?

Schottenheimer - I dont think he is interested in anything at all. Of course that could be just courtesy talk. According to ESPN, he doesnt want to coach or GM.....but

Hey Bills fans,

I'm going to my first game in Orchard Park this weekend. I went to the game in Toronto last year but it didn't have a home game feel at all. I felt bad you lost a home game to such a crappy atmosphere. So this year I 'm going to the game in Toronto again but had to catch a game in Orchard Park.

I'

The firing of Dick Jauron made me feel like a kid on christmas mourning opening the big present that I had snuck in the attic 9 times to look at.  It was long overdue but I am so happy we can finally move on.  I had about 30 text messages from friends and fellow season ticket holders within 10 minutes of the news breaking, all of which were filled with things like "I can finally wear my ...(more)

OK, I can say with confidence that Jim Kelly knows a lot more about football than I do....but Tim Tebow?

Can you picture this guy being a drop back passer? He fits great into the college game, but I can not imagine him as an NFL QB.

What do you guys think....I think this is a bad idea.
